Automate or Delegate

If you have a business that is generating revenue and you have a clear idea on how to acquire customers, deliver product and support your existing users than you need to begin working on plan to automate and delegate all tasks related to the business.

Automation is when a task or process is automatically done (usally triggered or executed by software). Delegation is when you can't automate a task (due to human intervention) so you delegate it to someone else.

If you don't know where to start here are some steps to take to get going:

1. Identify all tasks you do during the day. Write them down in a document. Make sure you include details so you don't forget how you execute these tasks.

2. Label each task as either Automate or Delegate.

3. For each Automate task, begin to scope out how you would automate the task with the idea that you will need to find someone to begin building the text necessary.

4. For each Delegate task put a name of a person or service you can use to delegate the task.

5. Start working on each task until you are no longer critical path . If you still feel like you need to oversee or approve any task simply requite the task to alert you when it's being done.  This way you can still manage the tasks and expectations without doing a majority of the work.
